A BIBLICALLY SOUND RELATIONSHIP
"Our Roles In Depth"

In order to understand how important relationships , marriages, friendships, and
Christian families are to God we need to understand our biblical roles- as defined by
God's word not mans.

These roles are ordained by God and so are the responsibilities.
Responsibilities and roles that are not in line with God's word leads to chaos
and disorder, and failed relationships.

God is not a God of chaos and disorder, he is a God of order.
Responsibilities met and roles enforced lead to God's blessings, and harmony amongst
all people involved.

I. WIVES IN THE BIBLE

A. HOW WIVES CAME TO BE...
Read Genesis 2:18,20
God said that it was not good for man to be alone...
God also said that he would make a helper who is just right for him.
God saw that everything that he had created thus far was not a suitable mate for man,
so he created another human, or wive, for Adam. The bible calls her a "help-mate".

B. A WORTHY WOMEN
Read Proverbs 12:4
There is a difference in a worthy women, and a unworthy one.
Even though the female race is perfect for man ( Companion wise)
- the female may choose to act ungodly, or unworthy in her ways-
therefore bringing shame or when behaved godly pride to her husband.

C. GOD'S FAVOR
Read Proverbs 18:22
marriage was ordained by God to be enjoyable, it is a precious gift from God.
Married people need to view their marriage as joyfully as God does.
Those that have healthy christian marriages bring joy to God and receive his favor!

D. HUSBANDS HAVE PURPOSE TO
Read 1 Peter 3:7
Husbands are to give honor to their wives and respect their differences in relational roles.
Women are weaker in strength compared to men so they are vulnerable when left unprotected
emotionally and physically by their partners. Men who do not tend to their wives as Christ
does his sheep are not heard in prayer by God. It is dishonorable to God to not do so
because man is symbolic of his son, Jesus.

E. GODS VIEW ON WIVES
Read Mal 2:14-15
God commands partners to obey their vows to each other faithfully.
Couples are one body and spirit- they produce godly children.
God clearly commands loyalty to our spouses sexually. When you are a unfaithful
spouse you are a unfaithful christian.

F. RESPONSIBILITIES NOT MET HINDER...
Read Malachi 2:14
We have a responsibility within each role and neglect of that role and responsibility
cause spiritual hindrances, God doesn't hear the prayers of those who are disobedient.

II. THE DUTIES OF A WIFE

A. SUBMIT TO HUSBAND ( 1 Peter 3:5-6)
Women of Old Testament times made themselves beautiful not by assecories but by
their submissiveness to their husbands. You are supposed to be godly and submissive
regardless of how your spouse acts.

B. REVERENCE FOR THE HUSBAND ( Eph 5:33)
A wife is commanded to have reverence or respect for her husband.
Disrespect of a spouse is totally disrespectful to God and not taken lightly by God.

C. LOVE YOUR HUSBAND ( Titus 2:4)
Not only are we to love our husbands but it is our duty as adult women to train the younger women
how to be the same way in their marriage. This is not a request it is a biblical command.
A unloving wife is the death of her husband.

D. LEARN FROM OUR HUSBANDS ( 1 Cor 14:34-35)
Wives are to be submissive to their husbands especially in God's house!
Women are not to be disruptive and questionably disrespect their husbands in Christian
gatherings. It is shameful for a women to confront a man in public, especially in church meetings.

E. WIVES ARE TO BE TRUST WORTHY ( Prov 31:11-12)
A trusting wife greatly enriches a mans life.
It is the same concept as deacons of a church, except in a mans home- she is his trusted deaconess.
If the pastor can trust a deacon to labor then he can focus on Gods work, same for a husband.
If a man can trust a women to uphold her work then he can focus on his manhood.

F. LOVING TO HER CHILDREN ( Titus 2:4)
A wife is to love her children and teach the younger women to love their husbands and children.
A women who does not love her children is a disgrace to God!

G. A WOMEN IS TO BE CHASTE ( Titus 2:5)
A women is to live wisely and pure.
Women are to be good housekeepers and do good deeds.
If they do all this in submissiveness to their husbands then they bring honor to
God and their spouse.

H.A WOMAN IS TO BE A GOOD HOMEMAKER ( Titus 2:5)
A women is to run her household affairs in a godly manner. A women who is a good steward
with her household responsibilities and keeps a clean house pleases her husband and God!

III. A HUSBANDS JOB

A. TO LOVE HIS WIFE ( Ephesians 5:25-28)
Husbands are commanded to love their wives, just as Christ loved the church, Jesus gave
up his life for her! A man's job is to build her up so that she blossoms into a beautiful
women of God!

B. HONOR ( 1 Peter 3:7)
The bible clearly tells us that a man is to honor his wife.
He is to treat his wife with understanding, not treating her so can hinder his own prayers.

C. PROVIDING FOR ( 1 Timothy 5:Cool
Those who do not provide for their own household have denied the true faith in God!
The bible says a man who does not provide for his relatives, especially his household
are worse then non believers.

D. INSTRUCTS ( 1 cor 14:35)
A husband is to be a instructor ( or teacher)
to his whole household, especially to his wife!

E. PROTECTORS ( 1 Sam 30: 1-19)
David protected his men and his family, his land, and his christian customs
in honor to God. Men are to be protectors of their wives and households especially.
They are to protect physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Men that do not are cowards and have no place in heaven!

F. NO DIVORCE ( 1 Cor 7:11)
A man may NOT divorce his wife except for adultery, or he is causing himself and her to commit adultery.
A women may leave the man but must remain single, or be reconciled to him. God encourages
the woman not to leave UNLESS she must.

IIII. RELATIONSHIPS ARE TO BE:

A. EXCLUSIVE
Read Proverbs 5:15-17,20
1. We are to share our love with our mates only
2. We are not to have sex outside of marriage
3. We are never to sleep with strangers
4. Immoral acts are bondage and immoral people are not of God

B. SATISFY
Read Proverbs 5:18-19
1. We are to rejoice in our partners and to be satisfied
2. Our spouses are to satisfy us in every way
3. Love is supposed to last always

C. MUTUAL AGREE-ABILITY
Read 1 Cor 7: 4-5
1. The partner agrees to give their body under the authority of the spouse and they mutually
agree to surrender to each other
2. Everyone is to have their own spouses to satisfy them

D. UNDEFINED
Read Hebrews 13:4
1. We are to honor marriage and the vows
2. We are to remain faithful to each other in every way
3. We are not to be immoral or commit adultery
4. The level of commitment needed between each other is UNDENIABLY, it is a state of mind,
a mutual love and respect, there is no way to define the joys of marriage- or the love that God
has for us, its to glorious!

V. SPECIAL TEMPTATIONS IN A RELATIONSHIP

A. DISOBEDIENCE ( gen 3:1-9)
When a spouse is ungodly or both are thinking ungodly its very hard but that is why we are to hold ourselves
independently accountable so that we can give only the best to our spouses, as Christ would
do for us.

B. UNFAITHFULNESS ( John 4 : 17-18)
Unfaithfulness in a marriage, relationship, etc. shows unfaithfulness to God and his moral laws.
Unfaithfulness destroys instead of builds- it wrecks lives.

C. CONTENTIOUS ( Prov 19:13 )
Any form of anger or quarreling, or jealousy is ungodly and separates us from God.
He wants our relations to be peaceful and a encouragement to others.
Contentiousness breeds division and is unacceptable to God.

D. ASSERTION OF AUTHORITY ( 1 Timothy 2:11-15)
It is or can be a temptation to abuse our biblical authorities,
that is why love, honor, and respect are stressed in biblical marriages.
When there is love authority is less likely to be abused.

Biblical relations are Christ centered, God focused, and Holy Spirit Filled.
They are a mutual work of art that takes time to cultivate into a masterpiece.
Sanctification is a process, all you need is 2 or more gathered in Jesus
name and he is there, so as long as couples sincerely comet together
to glorify him they are destined for blessings!
